The Special Needs Housing Program is made available in response to a growing demand from organizations that provide social services and housing to special needs groups. The program provides permanent financing for the development of rental housing for low and very low income people. Eligible projects include transitional housing, women/children crisis centers, handicapped/disabled, HIV/AIDS, and drug/alcohol rehabilitation housing.

The financing for Special Needs projects may be from a combination of sources such as HOME and the Affordable Housing Fund. New Hampshire Housing’s participation in Special Needs Housing projects under this program is limited to $650,000. Applications for financing consideration are accepted on a competitive basis two times annually.
