2007 American Dream Funds are fully reserved.  No new funds are expected for this year.

The American Dream Program is a collaboration between New Hampshire Housing and the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide up to 6% of a home's sales price or $10,000 (whichever is higher) in financial assistance for down payment and closing costs to low income first-time home buyers. It is offered through New Hampshire Housing’s network of Participating Lenders. Buyers must obtain a first mortgage through the Single Family Mortgage Program, with the following additional requirements:

  • Special American Dream Program Income and Purchase Price Limits apply.
  • Home ownership education approved by New Hampshire Housing is required.
  • First time home buyers in all areas of New Hampshire.
  • Properties must be single units, condominium units, or manufactured housing on its own land or in a cooperatively owned park.
  • Must meet the rules and guidelines of the Single Family Mortgage Program.
  • Home buyers may have no more than $3,500 in liquid assets remaining after payment of down payment and closing costs.
  • There are no interest charges, and the obligation to repay will disappear after ten years.

To apply for the program, contact one of our participating lenders. For more information about the program, contact New Hampshire Housing's Home Ownership Division 1-800-649-0470.
