On February 18, 2009 President Obama announced a plan to improve the housing market and help responsible home owners restructure their mortgages to avoid foreclosure. New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority was pleased to see the President’s strategy also includes efforts to support the work of state Housing Finance Agencies (HFAs), such as New Hampshire Housing. We look forward to learning more about the President’s strategy and working with the Administration to strengthen the nation’s housing. On March 4, 2009 the Making Home Affordable program was announced by the US Treasury as part of the Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan that previously was announced. Information on eligibility and program specifics can be found at http://www.makinghomeaffordable.gov. While the new program is effective as of this date, officials are urging home owners to be patient as loan servicers and government agencies are expected to receive huge call volumes in these initial days of the program.
