Foreclosure Update
The September foreclosure numbers continue to show that New Hampshire appears to be "bouncing along the bottom" of the housing market correction where there are no signs of a dramatic shift in the rate of increase or decrease in the number of foreclosure deeds and notices. New Hampshire Housing continues to believe that the state's foreclosure activity is being driven more by the economy than by issues such as subprime or adjustable rate lending.

New Hampshire Housing will keep you updated as we receive information about this important issue. In the meantime, we hope the data presented here will be of interest and use to you.
Foreclosure Deeds

The number of recorded foreclosure deeds in September of 2009 (287) was almost unchanged from the prior month, but 11% above the number in September 2008.  Cumulatively the first nine months of the year account for a 2.4% decline in foreclosure deeds over the same period in 2008.

Foreclosure Auction Notices

Foreclosure auction notices increased in September 2009 from the prior month by 5% to 756.  Further, September 2009 notices were about 12% above September of 2008 notices, supporting our previous assertion that growing numbers of New Hampshire households are struggling with their mortgage payments.
